Dhaka, April 29, 2025: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is set to return to Bangladesh after completing her medical treatment in London. Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain confirmed that an air ambulance has been arranged for her travel.
Speaking to journalists after a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov at the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday afternoon, Touhid Hossain shared the development. However, the exact date of her return remains undisclosed.
Sources indicate that last week, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir wrote to the Foreign Affairs Adviser, requesting arrangements for an air ambulance. The letter stated that Khaleda Zia’s health condition is stable but not entirely out of risk. She expressed her desire to return to Bangladesh by the end of April, and her doctors recommended traveling via a specialized air ambulance due to her medical condition.
Khaleda Zia traveled to London on January 8 for advanced medical treatment. After receiving treatment at the London Clinic for 17 consecutive days, she was discharged on January 25 and has since been staying at the residence of her eldest son, Tarique Rahman.
