The body of a police officer named Humayun (40), who was found hanging, was recovered by police in Dhaka’s Jatrabari area on Monday morning. Humayun was serving in the vehicle section of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
According to police, they received information about the incident in the morning and rushed to the scene in Dayaganj, Jatrabari. The officer’s body was found hanging with a noose around his neck at the gate of a building’s ground floor. The body was later sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s morgue for an autopsy.
Mohammad Kamruzzaman Talukdar, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jatrabari Police Station, said, “We found him hanging at the gate on the ground floor of the building. It is still unclear whether he took his own life or was killed and staged to look like a suicide. The autopsy report will reveal the exact cause of death.”
Humayun lived with his wife and two children on the third floor of a five-story building in Dayaganj as a tenant. His hometown is Bauphal, Patuakhali. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
