In a shocking incident in Narayanganj’s Sonargaon, a son was arrested for brutally assaulting his elderly father over a property dispute. The incident occurred in the Ashariachar area of Pirojpur Union, where the victim, 70-year-old Abdur Rahim, was severely injured by his children for refusing to transfer land ownership to them. Following the attack, Abdur Rahim filed a case against his children at the Sonargaon Police Station, leading to the arrest of his son, Jahirul Islam, on Monday.
Confirming the arrest, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sonargaon Police Station, Mofizur Rahman, stated that Jahirul Islam was apprehended after a police operation. The accused has been sent to jail custody through the court.
According to reports, on Sunday afternoon, Abdur Rahim was publicly assaulted in front of his house. His sons, Jahirul Islam and Saiful Islam, along with his daughter, Halima Akter, allegedly kicked and beat him, leaving him bloodied and critically injured. The attack stemmed from the victim’s refusal to transfer his land to his children.
OC Mofizur Rahman added that the police acted swiftly to arrest Jahirul Islam for attacking and injuring his father over the land dispute. Legal proceedings are underway.
