Lalmonirhat, May 29, 2025 : Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer of the National Citizen Party (NCP) for the northern region, has claimed that India is plotting against Bangladesh by sending agents across the border through push-in tactics. He called for national unity, stating that every citizen, not just the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), is a protector of the country’s borders.
Speaking at a street meeting held at Chourangi Mor in Patgram municipality, Lalmonirhat, on Thursday (May 29), Sarjis addressed India, asserting that as long as Sheikh Hasina remains under India’s patronage, normal relations between the two nations will not be possible. He emphasized that mutual respect and dignity are essential for fostering good neighborly ties.
Sarjis also criticized the operation of the Burimari Express train, which bears the name Burimari but does not stop there. He urged citizens to unite and protest at the train’s operational station, demanding either a name change or its operation from Burimari.
He further accused influential political figures of being involved in illegal sand and stone syndicates in Patgram upazila, alleging they profit illicitly at night. Sarjis vowed to identify and eradicate these syndicates, exposing those responsible.
Accompanying him were NCP’s central chief organizer Ali Nader and local leaders. Sarjis is set to participate in multiple street meetings and leaflet distribution campaigns across the district’s other four upazilas during his visit.
