Dhaka, May 21, 2025: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has solved the mysteries behind the murders of photographer Nurul Haque in Hazaribagh’s Jafarabad and university student Alvi in Jigatola, arresting 14 suspects linked to these cases. The announcement was made by DC Md. Masud Alam of the Ramna Division during a press conference at the DMP Media Center on Wednesday morning.
According to DC Masud Alam, 10 individuals have been arrested in connection with Nurul Haque’s murder, while four have been detained for Alvi’s killing. The murder of Nurul Haque was orchestrated by an individual named Naim, who led a TikTok group involved in the crime. The group lured Nurul to Jafarabad, where they hacked him to death with a machete and stole two of his cameras. The police have recovered the cameras and the machete used in the murder, along with apprehending 10 suspects.
In the Jigatola case, Alvi was killed in a planned attack stemming from a verbal altercation and humiliation. Four suspects have been arrested, and the remaining individuals involved have been identified. The police stated that they would soon be brought to justice.
The successful resolution of these two murder cases and the arrest of the suspects demonstrate the DMP’s commitment to maintaining law and order in the capital.
