Dhaka, May 24, 2025: Nahid Islam, the convener of the National Citizen’s Party (NCP), has stated that advisors Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan and Mahfuz Alam have no affiliation with the NCP. He made this announcement during an emergency press conference held at the party’s temporary central office in Banglamotor, Dhaka, on Saturday (May 24).
Addressing the issue of the student advisors, Nahid Islam said, “Asif Mahmud and Mahfuz Alam joined the government as representatives of the mass uprising in its aftermath. I was with them as well. If they wish to engage in politics or participate in elections, they cannot do so while being part of the government.” He further added, “We strongly condemn the misinformation campaign linking the two student advisors with the NCP.”
