158 Bangladeshi Citizens Return Home from Libya

 

Dhaka, June 17, 2025 : A group of 158 Bangladeshi citizens, who were detained in Libya, returned to Bangladesh on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. The repatriation was facilitated through the collaborative efforts of the Bangladesh Embassy in Libya, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).  

The group arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 5:20 AM on a special flight (UZ222) operated by Buraq Air, which departed from Tripoli’s Mitiga International Airport at 2:10 PM local time on Monday, June 16.
According to the Bangladesh Embassy, these citizens were detained at the Tajura Detention Center in Tripoli. Through the relentless efforts of the embassy and the support of IOM, their safe return was made possible.
