11 June, 2025 : Rais Uddin, a resident of Singra Upazila in Natore, recently fell victim to fraud at a cattle market in Kabul. On June 5, he sold his carefully raised cow for BDT 123,000 at the Diabari market in Dhaka’s Uttara. However, the buyer handed him a bundle of counterfeit notes, leaving him in despair. A video of Rais Uddin crying at the market went viral on social media, drawing widespread attention.
Moved by the incident, many came forward to help Rais Uddin. Among them, popular actress Apu Biswas stepped in to support him through the Alhaj Shamsul Haque Foundation. With contributions from the foundation and other individuals, Rais Uddin has already received the amount he lost as a donation. Going a step further, Apu Biswas announced that she will cover all expenses for Rais Uddin to perform Umrah.
Apu Biswas said, “I saw the video of uncle on Facebook and felt heartbroken. He is a poor man who traveled far to sell his cow. I learned he wishes to perform Umrah, so I decided to bear all the costs for his pilgrimage. If he chooses not to go now, I will give him BDT 50,000 to buy another animal or meet other needs.”
She added, “He is the same age as my father. All I want is his prayers for me and my family.” Apu Biswas’s compassionate gesture has not only brought a smile to Rais Uddin’s face but has also earned her widespread admiration on social media.
