Dhaka, June 17, 2025 – Local Government Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan has accused BNP leader Ishraq Hossain of committing a "criminal offense" by obstructing government operations at the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC). According to a report by Kalbela, Adviser Asif made these remarks during an interview with BBC Bangla on Tuesday.
Asif alleged that Ishraq, without taking the oath as mayor, has been participating in various administrative meetings with DSCC officials and employees, thereby disrupting civic services. He further claimed that Ishraq has occupied the city corporation’s auditorium and office spaces, hindering the delivery of essential services to citizens.
"Ishraq Hossain has not officially assumed any responsibilities, yet he has taken control of the city corporation’s auditorium and offices with his supporters," Asif stated. He expressed concern that continued interference could severely disrupt civic services by 100%.
The adviser warned that if such disruptions persist, authorities may be compelled to take strict measures to ensure the smooth functioning of civic operations.
