London, June 12, 2025: Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser to Bangladesh’s interim government and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, held a private meeting with King Charles III at Buckingham Palace on Thursday, June 12. The meeting was confirmed by Shafiqul Alam, press secretary to the Chief Adviser.
In a Facebook post, Shafiqul Alam stated that King Charles III praised Professor Yunus for his contributions to poverty alleviation, microcredit programs, and the concept of social business. The King specifically highlighted Yunus’s ‘Three Zero’ campaign as a timely initiative for preserving civilization. King Charles, a long-time admirer of Yunus’s work, has previously written the foreword for one of Yunus’s books, reflecting their mutual respect and shared vision.
While King Charles III, during his time as the Prince of Wales, had met Professor Yunus on several occasions, this was their first formal meeting since Yunus assumed the role of Chief Adviser to the interim government.
Meanwhile, a significant meeting is scheduled for Friday morning (June 13) between Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus and Tarique Rahman, Acting Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, BNP’s Senior Joint Secretary General, stated that the meeting will play a crucial role in advancing elections, reforms, and democracy in Bangladesh.
Professor Yunus arrived in London on Tuesday (June 10) for a four-day visit and is expected to return to Bangladesh on June 14.
