Doctors’ Council Demands Age Limit Increase to 34 for 48th Special BCS

Dhaka, June 15, 2025: The ‘PSC Reform Movement Doctors’ Council’ has demanded an increase of the age limit for medical professionals from 32 to 34 years for the upcoming 48th Special BCS examination. The organization presented this demand, along with three others, during a press conference held on Sunday afternoon in front of the National Museum of Bangladesh at Shahbagh.
The demands include extending the application period to at least three months from the issuance of the amended notification, allowing intern doctors who pass the preliminary exam to participate in the viva voce with a temporary Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDD) registration card, and issuing PSC office orders recommending successful candidates for appointment while allowing them to join after completing their internship. Additionally, they called for the publication of marks for preliminary, written, and viva examinations in all BCS exams.
Speaking at the press conference, the council’s chief organizer, Mahfuzul Haque Chowdhury, stated, “Until the 46th BCS, doctors were granted an additional two years for the age limit. However, this justified right was revoked in the 47th BCS alongside the cancellation of the freedom fighter quota, which is utterly illogical.” He further pointed out that the 40-day preparation period for the 48th Special BCS is inadequate, urging the government to address their demands promptly.
