Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) has introduced a full-fledged Wi-Fi 7.0 network across its campus, replacing the older Wi-Fi 5.0 system. This cutting-edge, high-speed, secure, and stable connectivity infrastructure promises faster and seamless internet access for students and faculty.
The new network was officially inaugurated on Sunday evening (June 29) at a ceremony held at IUB’s DMK Lecture Gallery, led by members of the university’s Board of Trustees.
The Wi-Fi 7.0 system features numerous access points and a robust backbone connection throughout the campus. Unlike the previous system, which could only support a few hundred devices simultaneously, the new network can handle over 25,000 devices at once. Termed a ‘future-ready’ infrastructure, it positions IUB to adapt to future technological advancements.
The event also featured remarks from Trustee Tawhid Samad. Other attendees included Trustees Rashed Chowdhury, Altamash Kabir, Ashraf Uddin Ahmed, and Dr. Hosne Ara Ali, along with Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Daniel W. Lund and Treasurer Khandakar Md. Iftekhar Haider.
