International Desk, June 12, 2025 : In a shocking case from Howrah, West Bengal, a mother-son duo, Shweta Khan and her son Aryan Khan, have been arrested by the police on allegations of producing pornographic content and torturing a young woman.
According to a report by Indian news outlet Zee 24 Ghanta, Shweta was apprehended on Wednesday (June 11) afternoon in Kolkata’s Alipore area, while Aryan was arrested earlier that morning in the Golf Green area.
Police sources revealed that Shweta avoided using her own mobile phone to evade arrest, relying instead on others’ devices to communicate with close contacts. Howrah City Police’s detective wing tracked the locations of these phones to pinpoint and arrest the duo.
Following his arrest, Aryan denied the allegations, claiming neither he nor his mother were involved in producing pornographic videos, and the accusations of torturing the young woman were false. Aryan’s lawyer further stated that the complainant had allegedly wanted to marry Aryan.
However, media reports suggest that Shweta and Aryan operated a production house involved in the creation of pornographic videos. Additionally, they are accused of holding a young woman from Sodpur, North 24 Parganas, captive in a flat in Howrah’s Bankra area, where she was subjected to physical and mental torture for days.
The victim managed to escape last Friday and brought the incident to light. She is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU at Kolkata’s Sagar Dutta Hospital.
Given the gravity of the case, the National Commission for Women in West Bengal has taken suo motu cognizance and initiated steps for investigation and legal action.
