Police Issue Fresh Warning Over Gatherings Near Chief Adviser's Residence

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued another warning, stating that certain individuals attempted to disrupt law and order by holding an illegal gathering near the Chief Adviser’s official residence, Yamuna.

On Monday (June 30) around 1:30 PM, a group of protesters demanding an increase in the number of posts in the 44th BCS attempted to block the road after exiting through the 'Arunyodoy' gate of Ramna Park. However, police promptly intervened and dispersed the protesters, according to Masud Alam, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Ramna Division.

He stated, "Holding such protests is absolutely unacceptable. They violated Section 144. They have been removed from the area." Later that night, DMP reported that the police peacefully dispersed the illegal gathering and brought the situation under control. Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) of DMP, said that in the interest of maintaining public order, a public notice issued by the DMP Commissioner has banned all types of gatherings, processions, rallies, and demonstrations near the Chief Adviser’s official residence, Yamuna, and its surrounding areas. This restriction remains in effect.
Despite this, attempts by certain individuals to hold illegal gatherings and disrupt law and order in the mentioned area are undesirable and unacceptable. DMP urges all concerned to respect the law, comply with the public notice issued by the DMP Commissioner, and refrain from spreading unnecessary confusion.
