Protests Block Advisors’ Vehicles, Jubo Dal Leader Zahid Khan Expelled

In Sylhet’s Gowainghat, Jubo Dal leader Zahid Khan has been expelled for engaging in activities against party discipline. The announcement was made on Sunday, June 15, 2025, through a notice signed by Minhajul Islam Bhuiyan, Assistant Office Secretary of Jubo Dal’s central committee.

The notice stated that Zahid Khan, Joint Convener of Gowainghat Upazila Jubo Dal, was expelled from the party, including his primary membership, due to clear allegations of breaching party discipline. The party will not take responsibility for any of his wrongdoings, and all levels of Jubo Dal leaders and activists have been instructed to sever organizational ties with him.
According to local sources, on Saturday, June 14, two advisors of the interim government, Sayeda Rizwana Hasan and Fawzul Kabir Khan, visited Jaflong in Gowainghat for an inspection. During a press briefing, they announced that no new stone quarries would be opened or leased in Sylhet to promote eco-friendly tourism. Angered by this decision, local stone quarry workers, leaders of related organizations, and residents blocked the advisors’ vehicles in protest, led by Zahid Khan.
After about half an hour of efforts, police and BGB brought the situation under control, allowing the advisors to leave safely.
