Gazipur, June 17, 2025 : Gazipur’s Sreepur police have arrested a security guard, identified as Md. Liton, on charges of raping a 14-year-old girl at an ATM booth. The incident reportedly occurred at a Dutch Bangla Bank ATM booth adjacent to Talha Spinning Mills, where Liton was employed as a security guard.
According to police and relatives of the victim, the teenage girl, who worked at a local factory earning Tk 6,000 monthly, came into contact with Liton while withdrawing money from the ATM. Luring her with the promise of a better job at Talha Spinning Mills with a salary of Tk 12,000, Liton allegedly contacted the girl’s father and asked her to visit the ATM booth on Sunday (June 15) at 6:00 AM. Upon her arrival, Liton took her to a small room inside the booth under the pretext that a senior factory official would meet her. When the girl’s father inquired about the job twice, Liton sent him away, assuring him not to worry. Around 10:00 AM, Liton allegedly raped the girl in the room before sending her home. The victim later informed her father about the incident while on her way back.
Sreepur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Abdul Barik confirmed the arrest on Monday (June 16) night, stating that Liton would be produced in court on Tuesday. The accused, a tenant at Atabuddin Musa’s house in Mulaid village, Sreepur, was apprehended from the Ansar Road area with the help of technology after multiple police teams launched a manhunt. Liton had been evading capture by frequently changing locations, police said.
A case has been filed, and investigations are ongoing.
