On Sunday (July 27), around 11:30 AM, coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Movement held a press conference in front of the Tarek Smriti Auditorium at Town Hall in Mymensingh to brief local journalists about the upcoming National Citizen Party (NCP) July March.
The coordinators announced that all preparations for the march, scheduled for Monday, have been completed. Addressing the press, Ali Hossain, District Member Secretary of the Anti-Discrimination Movement, called on people from all walks of life in Mymensingh to join the peaceful march. He stated, “Through this march, we aim to raise awareness about patriotism, democracy, and people’s rights-based politics. We seek everyone’s cooperation for a peaceful and orderly event.”
The leaders informed that the program will begin with a march through the city on Monday at around 5:00 PM, concluding with a rally at the Central Shaheed Minar near Town Hall.
The coordinators also revealed that key figures, including Nahid Islam, Chief Coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and NCP Convener, along with Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, Chief Organizer Hasnat Abdullah, Sarjis Alam, Dr. Tasnim Jara, and other senior NCP leaders, will attend the event. They urged Mymensingh residents and people from various professions to stand in solidarity with them.
The organizers have informed law enforcement agencies about the arrival of central leaders and the overall security arrangements for the program.
The press conference was attended by Sakibul Hasan, Joint Member Secretary of the Bangladesh Democratic Student Council Executive Committee, and members Al Mamun and Khalil Sheikh Prasukh.
Mymensingh Police Superintendent Kazi Akhtar Ul Alam stated, “An additional 300 to 350 police personnel will be deployed for Monday’s NCP rally. Multiple layers of security have been arranged in coordination with various forces to ensure safety.”
Meanwhile, a separate press conference by the NCP is scheduled to take place at their district office at around 3:00 PM to discuss further details of the march.
