Milestone Jet Crash: Latest Update from National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute

Two children who were receiving treatment for burn injuries at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka, following the crash of a Bangladesh Air Force jet into Milestone School and College in Uttara, have been discharged. However, four patients remain in critical condition, according to Professor Dr. Nasir Uddin, the institute’s director. Dr. Nasir Uddin shared this update with journalists on Saturday (July 26) afternoon.

Providing details on the condition of the burn victims, Dr. Nasir Uddin said, “Two patients injured in the Milestone School and College jet crash were discharged on Saturday. Both are children. Additionally, four patients remain in critical condition, nine are in the severe category, and four are in the ICU.”

He further clarified, “One of the critical patients is on a ventilator. ICU patients are, by definition, critical.” The tragic incident occurred on July 21, when a Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet crashed into Milestone School and College, resulting in 35 deaths so far. Medical teams from China, India, and Singapore have arrived in Bangladesh to assist in treating the injured. They are working in coordination with doctors at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery to provide medical care. On the day of the crash, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced the formation of a high-level investigation committee to determine the cause of the accident and prepare a report.
The government has stated its commitment to enhancing national security and reducing aviation-related disasters to zero.
