Dhaka, August 19, 2025: The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested Billal, also known as Agni Billal or Bhagne Billal (29), the alleged leader of a snatching gang operating in Mohammadpur. The arrest was made in a special operation conducted in Savar’s Shamlapur area late Monday night (August 18) around 1 a.m.
According to Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division, acting on a tip-off, a CTTC team learned that Billal was hiding in Shamlapur, Savar. The team conducted a raid and apprehended him. Billal is accused of leading a snatching gang that terrorized residents in Mohammadpur, Adabar, and other areas of the capital, holding people at knifepoint and using sharp weapons to rob them.
