Arrest Warrants Issued Against Former IGP Jabed, 4 Others in Case of Killing 7 Madrassa Students in Staged Militant Drama

The International Crimes Tribunal-1 issued arrest warrants against five individuals, including former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jabed Patwary, in connection with the 2016 killing of seven madrassa students in Joydebpur, Gazipur, under the pretense of a staged militant operation.

The warrants were issued on Monday, August 18, 2025, by a three-member tribunal led by Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Mazumder. The other members of the tribunal are Justice Md. Shafiul Alam Mahmud and Judge Md. Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.

During the hearing, the prosecution stated that in 2016, seven madrassa students were abducted and subsequently locked in a house in Joydebpur, Gazipur. They were killed under the pretext of a militant operation. The tribunal has set October 15, 2025, as the deadline for submitting the investigation report in this case.
