Bangladesh Bank to Release New Tk100 Banknote on August 12

Dhaka, August 10, 2025 – The Bangladesh Bank has announced the release of a newly designed Tk100 banknote, set to enter circulation on August 12. The announcement was confirmed by the central bank’s Department of Communications and Publications through a press release on Sunday.

The new Tk100 banknote is part of a broader initiative to introduce a new series of banknotes featuring designs inspired by Bangladesh’s historic and archaeological architecture across all denominations. Signed by Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H Mansur, the Tk100 note follows the recent release of redesigned Tk1000, Tk50, and Tk20 notes.

Initially, the new Tk100 banknotes will be available from the Bangladesh Bank’s Motijheel office starting August 12. They will gradually be distributed through other regional offices of the central bank. The bank clarified that the new Tk100 note will circulate alongside existing paper notes and coins of the same denomination. For currency collectors, the Bangladesh Bank has also printed non-negotiable specimen notes of the Tk100 denomination, which can be collected from the Currency Museum in Mirpur.
