Chief Adviser to Attend International Conference on Rohingya Issue in Cox’s Bazar

Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus will visit Cox’s Bazar to participate in an international conference on the Rohingya issue. The conference is set to begin on August 24, 2025, in Cox’s Bazar, with the Chief Adviser scheduled to attend on the second day, August 25.

This information was shared by the Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam, during a briefing at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

The Press Secretary stated that an international conference on the Rohingya issue will be held in Cox’s Bazar on August 24, 25, and 26. The interim government is prioritizing the Rohingya crisis and is working with various stakeholders. To bring the issue back into the global spotlight, three international conferences have been planned. The first will commence on August 24 in Cox’s Bazar, followed by a major conference at the United Nations on September 30, where representatives from 170 countries are expected to participate. Another significant conference is anticipated in Doha, Qatar.
He further noted that addressing the humanitarian crisis faced by the Rohingya on international platforms is challenging. The Cox’s Bazar conference is expected to host representatives from 40 countries, along with various international and UN organizations. The event will provide an opportunity for the Rohingya community to directly engage with these representatives and voice their concerns. The conference, starting on August 24, will see Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus attending on August 25, and it will conclude on August 26.
