In Dhaka’s Mohammadpur, a youth named Mohammad Nazim Uddin was allegedly robbed of 41,000 taka at machete point in Dhaka Udyan’s Road No. 5, D-Block. The victim was reportedly employed at Pathao Courier Service.
The incident occurred around 4 p.m. on Thursday (August 7). The victim filed a complaint at Mohammadpur Thana regarding the robbery.
The victim stated, “I work for Pathao Courier Service. In the afternoon, after making a delivery near a mosque on Road No. 5 in Ekta Housing, I was heading toward the main road via Dhaka Udyan’s D-Block. Near house number 14, three youths armed with machetes stopped my bicycle. They took 41,000 taka and my mobile phone. When I asked for my phone back, they threw it at me from a distance. Afterward, the three youths fled toward Ekta Housing in a rickshaw.” He added that he filed a complaint at Mohammadpur Thana as per the instructions of the authorities.
CCTV footage shows that around 4:10 p.m., a youth in a white panjabi riding a bicycle was passing through Dhaka Udyan’s Road No. 5, D-Block. Three youths intercepted him, brandished a machete, took his money, and fled in a rickshaw.
When contacted, the investigating officer, Sub-Inspector Abdul Momin, said, “We have taken the complaint seriously and have already started an investigation. Efforts are underway to apprehend the culprits by collecting CCTV footage.”
