The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) today approved 10 projects with a total estimated cost of Tk 6,506.50 crore.
Of this amount, Tk 3,821.58 crore will be funded by the government, Tk 2,428.04 crore will come from project loans, and Tk 256.89 crore will be financed by the respective organizations.
The approval was granted during an ECNEC meeting held at the NEC conference room in the Planning Commission premises, chaired by Chief Adviser and ECNEC Chairperson Dr. Muhammad Yunus. The approved projects include five new projects, two revised projects, and three projects with extended timelines without additional costs.
The meeting was attended by Planning Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud; Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs and Overseas Employment Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul; Home and Agriculture Adviser Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.); Industry and Housing and Public Works Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan; Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources, Road Transport and Bridges, and Railways Adviser Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan; and Environment, Forest, and Climate Change and Water Resources Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan, along with relevant officials.
The 10 approved projects are:
1. **Agriculture Ministry**: "Sustainable Agricultural Development Project in Rangpur Region through Modern Technology Expansion."
2. **Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Ministry**: "Modernization and Capacity Enhancement of 33/11 kV Outdoor Substations in BAPEX’s Industrially Developed Areas."
3. **Industries Ministry**: "BMR of Keru & Co. (BD) Ltd. (2nd Revised)."
4. **Education Ministry**: "Establishment of Rabindra University, Bangladesh."
5. **Health and Family Welfare Ministry**: "Establishment of Burn and Plastic Surgery Units in Five Designated Medical College Hospitals (Sylhet, Barishal, Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Faridpur) (1st Revised)."
6. **Housing and Public Works Ministry**: "Construction of Multistoried Residential Flats for Government Employees in Azimpur Government Colony, Dhaka (Zone-C)."
7. **Home Ministry**: "Construction of Two Multistoried Residential Buildings for Officers and Staff of the Fire Service and Civil Defence Directorate."
8. **Local Government Division**:
- "Dhaka Environmentally Sustainable Water Supply (3rd Revised)."
- "Expansion and Development of Safe Water Supply and Sanitation Systems in Bandarban Municipality and Adjacent Areas of Three Upazila Headquarters in Bandarban District (1st Revised)."
9. **Posts and Telecommunications Ministry**: "Establishment of Telecommunication Network in Mirsarai Economic Zone, Chattogram."
The meeting also briefed ECNEC members on nine previously approved projects, including:
1. Reliable and Sustainable Electrification of Hatiya Island, Nijhum Island, and Kutubdia Island (2nd Revised).
2. Installation of Smart Pre-Payment Meters in NESCO Areas of Rajshahi and Rangpur Divisions (1st Revised).
3. Infrastructure Development in Two Municipalities of Barguna District.
4. Rural Road Development in Three Hill Districts Affected by Disasters (2nd Revised).
5. Infrastructure Development for Langalband Mahashtami Purnya Snan Festival (2nd Revised).
6. Increasing Oilseed Crop Production (2nd Revised).
7. Important Rural Infrastructure Development in Sylhet Division (2nd Revised).
8. Alleviation of Waterlogging in Kopotaksha River and Adjacent Areas (Phase 2) (1st Revised).
9. Skill-Based Literacy for Out-of-School Adolescents (2nd Revised).
