Former DB Chief Harun Among 18 Police Officers Suspended

Eighteen senior police officers, including former Detective Branch (DB) chief Harun-or-Rashid, have been temporarily suspended for prolonged absence from duty and allegations of desertion.

On Sunday, August 17, 2025, the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification confirming the suspensions, signed by Senior Secretary Nasimul Gani.

According to the notification, the officers were charged with the punishable offense of "desertion" under Rule 3(c) of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018. They have been suspended from service under Rule 12, Sub-rule (1), effective from the dates mentioned against their names.
The notification further stated that the suspended officers will be entitled to subsistence allowances during the suspension period. The order was issued in the public interest.
