Dhaka, August 31, 2025: Nurul Haque Nur, President of Gono Odhikar Parishad, who was injured in a clash in Dhaka’s Bijoynagar area, may soon be shifted from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to a cabin. Preparations have been made to move him to VIP Cabin No. 1, according to hospital sources.
A hospital official, who preferred anonymity, stated that Nur’s physical condition has significantly improved, paving the way for his potential transfer from ICU Bed No. 9 to the VIP cabin. The decision will be finalized based on the advice of his doctors.
Brigadier General Md. Asaduzzaman, Director of the hospital, provided an update on Nur’s condition, stating, “Nurul Haque Nur’s health is gradually improving. He has sustained injuries to his nose, jawbone, and eye, and is experiencing some trauma. However, his CT scan reports are promising. With comprehensive treatment as per the medical board’s decision, we are hopeful he may be discharged within a week.”
The incident occurred during a clash between Jatiya Party and Gono Odhikar Parishad in Bijoynagar, leaving Nur and several others, including the party’s General Secretary Rashed Khan, injured. Nur was initially taken to a private hospital before being transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he was admitted to the ICU in critical condition.
In related developments, the President of Bangladesh inquired about Nur’s condition and assured support for treatment abroad if needed. Gono Odhikar Parishad has also put forward a three-point demand to the government in response to the incident.
