On Thursday (August 7, 2025), around 10 PM, a private car driver was brutally murdered by having his throat slit in front of Gopalpur North Bengal Sugar Mills High School in Lalpur Upazila, Natore.
According to police, a group of unidentified individuals hired a private car from Kushtia to travel toward Banpara in Baraigram, Natore. On the way, the passengers suddenly attacked the driver, Saidur Rahman, slashing his throat with a knife before fleeing the scene. The injured driver attempted to reach a populated area but collapsed on the road. Local residents spotted him in a bloodied state and informed the police, who later recovered the body from the scene.
The victim, Saidur Rahman, was the son of the late Altab Hossain from Bamanpara village in Bheramara Upazila, Kushtia.
Lalpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mominuzzaman reported that one suspect was arrested on Thursday night in connection with the murder. “Important information has been obtained during the interrogation of the suspect. Efforts are underway to identify others involved in the incident,” he said. The arrested individual will be presented before the court after questioning.
The victim’s brother, Alamgir Hossain, filed a murder case at Lalpur Police Station, naming unidentified individuals as the accused.
On Friday (August 8, 2025) morning, the body was handed over to the victim’s family after a post-mortem examination at Natore Sadar Hospital’s morgue.
Police suspect the incident may have been a premeditated murder and have launched an investigation to uncover the motive behind the killing.
