Dhaka, August 31, 2025: Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has warned that considering any alternative to elections would be deeply dangerous for the nation. During meetings with political parties, he reiterated his commitment to holding a timely national election.
On Sunday (August 31), following discussions with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Jamaat-e-Islami, and the National Citizen Party (NCP) at the Jamuna State Guest House, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam briefed journalists on the matter.
The Press Secretary stated that Dr. Yunus emphasized, “If anyone thinks of an alternative to elections, it will be profoundly dangerous for this nation. A fair and impartial election will be held in a festive atmosphere in the first half of February.”
Professor Yunus stressed that the primary responsibility of the interim government is to organize a free and peaceful election. The Press Secretary added, “The Chief Adviser repeatedly noted that this election will be one of the best in Bangladesh’s history.”
He further informed that during the meetings, various political parties shared their views on implementing the July Charter. Vice President of the National Consensus Commission, Dr. Ali Riaz, and the Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant, Munir Haider, updated Dr. Yunus on the progress of the July Charter implementation.
Shafiqul Alam noted that the meetings with the Chief Adviser were held in a very cordial environment, with political parties expressing their concerns and expectations regarding the election.
