Chhatra Dal Holds Torch Rally at Chittagong University Demanding Proctorial Body’s Resignation**

The Chittagong University unit of Chhatra Dal organized a torch rally on campus, demanding the resignation of the university administration and proctorial body for failing to ensure student safety, justice for attackers, better medical treatment for injured students, compensation, and a secure campus environment.

On Thursday evening at 7:00 PM, Chhatra Dal leaders and activists began the torch rally from the university’s main gate roundabout, proceeding to the Shaheed Minar and then taking a position in front of the administrative building. During the rally, participants chanted slogans such as “My brother’s blood will not go in vain,” “My brother is attacked, but the administration focuses on recruitment,” and “One demand, one call: when will the administration fall?”

Abdullah Al Noman, General Secretary of Chittagong University Chhatra Dal, stated, “The main reason for our protest is that, despite nearly 1,500 students being injured in recent incidents, the administration has taken no visible action. They have even failed to publish a list of the injured students. Despite this failure, they have not resigned. Instead of ensuring student safety, the administration is preoccupied with conducting recruitment exams. We demand the resignation of the administration and the proctorial body.”
Sajjad Hossein, Organizational Secretary of Chhatra Dal, added, “We, along with various other organizations, have repeatedly said that this administration has failed to ensure student safety. Since the July uprising, students have been victims of both covert and overt attacks. Yet, the chief proctor is posting about security on Facebook, which is unbecoming of their position. If they had any conscience, the proctorial body would have resigned on their own. They must immediately acknowledge their failure and step down, or all organizations and general students will take collective action.
