A serious allegation has surfaced against a doctor in the emergency department of Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital in Kishoreganj, accused of kicking and injuring a 65-year-old heart patient named Md. Mohsin. The incident reportedly occurred on Monday, September 1, 2025, around noon. Following the incident, the patient’s son, Md. Sholok, filed a case at the Kishoreganj Model Police Station. The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the police station, Abdullah Al Mamun, confirmed receiving the complaint and stated that legal action would be taken after investigation. According to the patient’s family, Md. Mohsin, a resident of the Batrish area in Kishoreganj town, had been receiving treatment at the hospital for his heart condition. When his condition deteriorated, he visited the emergency department for admission. However, the on-duty doctor, Mahbub Alam Milan, allegedly refused to admit him and directed the family to seek treatment at a private clinic in the town. This led to an argument, during which the doctor reportedly used abusive language towards Mohsin’s wife, daughter, and niece. The situation escalated when the doctor allegedly kicked Mohsin, injuring his left thigh. Hospital Ansar members later intervened and ensured the patient was admitted. In his statement, Mohsin said, “I’ve been suffering from a heart condition for a long time. I’ve spent around 8,000 taka on tests and medicines at the hospital, but there’s been no improvement. When I went to get admitted again on Monday, the doctor refused and told me to go to a private clinic. During the argument, he kicked me and caused me to fall.” The plaintiff, Md. Sholok, added, “My sick father was kicked and injured. My mother and sister were verbally abused with obscene language. The doctor is trying to settle the matter with money, but we want justice.” However, the accused doctor, Mahbub Alam, claimed, “The matter has already been resolved. There was a misunderstanding with the patient and his family, but no kicking incident took place. The complainant has also withdrawn the police case.” Contradicting the doctor’s statement, Md. Sholok asserted, “They are trying to cover up the incident. The accused doctor is even offering money to settle the matter.” The hospital’s assistant director, Dr. Nasiruzzaman, said, “We have received a verbal complaint about the incident. If a written complaint is submitted, an investigation will be conducted, and appropriate action will be taken.”
