Gambling, Alcohol-Related Companies Barred from Sponsoring Indian Cricket Team

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited bids for sponsoring the Indian cricket team. However, not all companies are eligible to become sponsors, as the BCCI has imposed restrictions on several types of organizations.

In a press release issued today, the BCCI announced that 10 categories of companies are prohibited from sponsoring the Indian team.

The following types of organizations are barred from sponsoring the Indian cricket team: - Companies involved in online gaming, betting, or gambling in India or anywhere in the world. - Companies directly or indirectly engaged in crypto trading, crypto exchanges, crypto tokens, or cryptocurrencies. - Companies manufacturing alcoholic beverages. - Companies producing tobacco products. - Companies involved in producing pornography. - Companies manufacturing sports apparel. - Banks, financial service providers, and non-banking financial companies. - Companies producing soft drinks. - Companies manufacturing fans, mixer grinders, and locks. - Insurance companies.
The last five categories have been excluded because companies in these sectors are already associated with the BCCI as sponsors in some capacity.
