Prepare for the Gallows if Nur’s Justice is Denied," Warns AB Party Leader

Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad, General Secretary of the AB Party, issued a stern warning to the advisers of the interim government, stating that they should "prepare to face the gallows" if justice is not served for the attack on Nurul Haque Nur. He made these remarks to journalists on Thursday (September 4) while visiting Nur, the President of Gono Odhikar Parishad, at Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital.

Fuad expressed deep frustration, accusing the interim government’s advisers of undermining the mass uprising. “We are very disappointed. The interim government’s advisers are doing everything to sabotage the uprising. Just as disappearances, murders, and killings went unpunished during the Awami League’s tenure, we are witnessing the same scenario now. Those in power should remember—if justice is not served for Nur, they will have to prepare for their own nooses. They will face the gallows,” he said.

He alleged that members of the joint forces and police deliberately attacked Nur, resulting in a broken nasal bone, forcing him to breathe through his mouth and struggle to sleep. In the same incident, Nazmul Hasan, General Secretary of Chhatra Odhikar Parishad, was also seriously injured and is receiving treatment at DMC. Fuad further claimed that despite a week passing since the attack, none of the involved officers have been suspended. “We know some senior joint forces officers and individuals close to Jatiya Party’s GM Quader are linked to this attack. The interim government is expressing helplessness, merely condemning the incident like an opposition party and expressing concern. They talk about sending Nur abroad for treatment, but the most crucial action—suspending the involved joint forces and police members within 24 hours—has not been taken,” he said. He condemned the interim government and its Home Adviser, stating, “This useless Home Adviser should have been sacked long ago. They are committing injustices and betraying the mass uprising daily. They are testing whether they can eliminate the forces behind the uprising one by one.”
Fuad alleged that the attack on Nur was not just political violence but part of a larger conspiracy, claiming involvement of India’s intelligence agency RAW and associates of Sheikh Hasina. He added, “We don’t see Nur’s attack as an ordinary incident. It’s part of a high-level assassination plan. If the interim government fails to deliver exemplary justice, the people will take justice into their own hands, and many advisers’ bodies will fall.” He also demanded the resignation of the Home Adviser.
