Three-Year-Old Child’s Body Found in Sack, Uncle and Aunt Detained

In Shaharasti, Chandpur, police recovered the body of a three-year-old child, Tasnuha, found inside a sack. The body was retrieved from a pond near her home around midnight on Thursday (September 4, 2025).

According to details of the incident, Tasnuha, the daughter of Rubel Hossain from Patoary Bari in Panchail village, Chitashi East Union, went missing on Wednesday (September 3) afternoon. Family members searched extensively but could not find her. A team of divers and nets were used to search the pond, but initially, no trace of the child was found.

Around midnight on Thursday, family members spotted a sack in the pond. Upon retrieving it, they discovered Tasnuha’s body inside and informed the police. Shaharasti police arrived at the scene and recovered the body. During a search, police and locals found bloodstains in various parts of the house of the child’s uncle, Ripon, leading to the detention of Ripon and his wife, Sathi Akter, for questioning. Local Union Parishad member Maulana Aminul Haque stated, “I had suspicions earlier. After the police arrived, I suggested searching the house. The police found some evidence during the search of the uncle’s house, indicating their involvement in the child’s murder.”

Shaharasti Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Basar said, “The child had been missing since Wednesday. Despite searches with divers, she was not found initially. Later, her body was recovered in a sack. We suspect she was killed in a planned manner. The uncle and aunt have been detained for initial questioning, and further details will emerge after the investigation.”
