Trump Nominates Brent Christensen as New US Ambassador to Dhaka

US President Donald Trump has nominated Brent Christensen as the new US Ambassador to Bangladesh. The White House announced this on Tuesday. According to the White House website, Christensen’s nomination has been sent to the US Senate for approval.

As per protocol, the US President nominates an ambassador, and the nomination is sent to the Senate for approval. Once approved by the Senate, the appointment of the new ambassador is formally announced.

If approved by the Senate, Brent Christensen will serve as the new US Ambassador to Dhaka. The last US Ambassador to Dhaka was Peter Haas, who served as the 17th US Ambassador to Bangladesh. He held the position from March 2022 to April 2024. Peter Haas retired from the US Foreign Service on September 27, 2024.
