Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Aim to Embark on Coaching Careers

Sports Desk, June 01, 2025 : Mahmudullah Riyad and Mushfiqur Rahim, two stalwarts of Bangladesh cricket, are gearing up for a new chapter in their careers. Mahmudullah has already retired from international cricket, while Mushfiqur continues to play only in the Test format. However, indications suggest that his Test career may not last much longer.

Despite stepping away from playing, both cricketers are determined to stay connected with the sport, expressing their desire to pursue coaching. They have already discussed their aspirations with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President, Aminul Islam Bulbul.

BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul revealed, “Even before I joined the BCB, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah contacted me. They expressed their interest in becoming international coaches.”
It’s not just these two cricketers; many former players are keen to transition into coaching after retiring. However, the lack of proper guidelines or training opportunities for coaching in Bangladesh has been a challenge. Aminul Islam Bulbul has previously facilitated opportunities for cricketers in various ICC and ACC coaching programs. Now, he plans to launch such training initiatives through the BCB. He stated, “We will run these training education programs through the cricket board, Inshallah.”
The move by Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur into coaching could inspire the next generation of Bangladeshi cricketers. Their experience and expertise are expected to play a significant role in shaping the future of cricket in the country.
