Lalmonirhat, June 1, 2025: Unidentified miscreants vandalized and set fire to the district office of the Jatiya Party (National Party) in Lalmonirhat late Saturday night (May 31, 2025). The incident occurred around 11 PM at the party office located at Alorupa Mor in the city.
According to police and eyewitnesses, a group of 15 to 20 individuals arrived on 8 to 10 motorcycles and launched an attack on the Jatiya Party office. The assailants broke the locks, entered the premises, looted various items, and set the office ablaze before fleeing the scene.
Fearing the fire could spread to nearby shops in the adjacent market, local residents rushed to the site and managed to bring the flames under control. However, by then, the Jatiya Party office had been completely gutted.
Alamgir Hossain, General Secretary of Lalmonirhat Municipal Jatiya Party, who arrived at the scene after being informed by locals, said, “When I got here, I saw the entire office had been burned down. We don’t know who carried out this attack, but the matter has been reported to the party’s higher authorities.”
The incident has sparked tension in the surrounding areas.
Nur Nabi, Officer-in-Charge of Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station, stated, “We rushed to the scene upon receiving the news. An investigation is underway to identify and apprehend those involved in the attack.”
