Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus Arrives in London

London, June 10, 2025: Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus arrived at London’s Heathrow Airport on Tuesday at 7:05 AM local time on an Emirates flight for a four-day visit to the United Kingdom. His press wing confirmed the information.

During the visit, Dr. Yunus will meet King Charles III at Buckingham Palace and receive the ‘King Charles Harmony Award.’ Additionally, he is scheduled to hold a formal meeting with the UK Prime Minister. In this meeting, the interim government will seek Britain’s support for reforms and democratic transition. If the issue of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the Awami League is raised by the UK, Dhaka will request assistance in bringing them back to the country to complete the judicial process.
Furthermore, a meeting between Dr. Yunus and BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman has been confirmed during the visit. Diplomatic sources in Dhaka and London have verified this. The meeting is scheduled to take place at The Dorchester Hotel in London on June 13 between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM. Discussions may cover the upcoming national parliamentary election, the current political landscape, and potential agreements or strategic positions among political parties.
A senior government official informed that the meeting is significant and could be a step toward political reconciliation. However, no official statement has been issued yet by the Chief Adviser’s office or the BNP regarding this meeting.
