Dhaka to Send Another Letter to Delhi on Push-in Issue

 

Dhaka, June 3, 2025: Bangladesh is set to send another letter to India regarding the issue of push-ins, according to Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain. He stated that Dhaka aims to address this issue through consular dialogue with India. Hossain made these remarks during a press interaction at the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.

“Push-ins cannot be physically stopped,” Hossain said, adding that Bangladesh has been exchanging letters with India on this matter. “We will send another letter today or tomorrow.” He noted that Bangladesh has verified and accepted many individuals listed by India as illegal Bangladeshi migrants, though differences ofස
Regarding the extradition of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from India, Hossain said, “We sent a letter last year but received no response. If needed, we will send another.”
On border killings, he took a firm stance, stating, “These are unacceptable. We will protest strongly, and this process is ongoing.”
Commenting on India’s cancellation of transshipment facilities for Bangladesh in April, Hossain viewed it positively, saying, “It has been a blessing in disguise. Our exports remain unaffected, and goods are now being shipped directly from Chattogram and Sylhet, reducing our dependency.”
Addressing India’s withdrawal of facilities, he remarked, “We also stopped yarn imports through land ports based on our needs. Whether India’s actions were driven by their needs, I don’t know.”
