Noakhali Royals: A New Franchise Set to Debut in BPL

Cricket enthusiasts may soon witness a team representing Noakhali in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) for the first time. A UK-based company, Sayan Globals, has expressed keen interest in acquiring a new franchise named “Noakhali Royals” for the BPL. The organization has formally communicated its intent to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Sayan Globals has confirmed that they have already completed the necessary documentation and preparations to secure a franchise in the BPL. A London-based businessman, representing the company, presented the proposal to the media in Mirpur. The primary goal is to establish Noakhali as a prominent name in the country’s most popular franchise cricket league.

In the previous 11 editions of the BPL, no team has ever represented Noakhali, unlike cities such as Sylhet, Chattogram, Khulna, or Barishal. Sayan Globals aims to fill this gap and bring Noakhali into the limelight.
The BPL Governing Council of the BCB has stated that when the formal bidding process or Expression of Interest (EOI) is announced, all applications will be thoroughly reviewed, and decisions will be made through a transparent process to select new franchises.
While the schedule for the next BPL season is yet to be finalized, discussions are ongoing in the BCB’s board meetings. Meanwhile, the potential inclusion of “Noakhali Royals” as a new franchise has already sparked excitement.

Notably, the last BPL edition saw Fortune Barishal emerge as champions, but the tournament was not without controversies. This time, the BCB is focused on ensuring greater professionalism, transparency, and diverse participation in the upcoming edition.

It remains to be seen whether Sayan Globals’ proposal will materialize. However, the people of Noakhali are already thrilled at the prospect of having a team to call their own, which could become the next “fan favorite” in the BPL.
