Allegation of Rape of Street Child in Capital, Admitted to OCC


An eight-year-old street child in the capital has allegedly been raped, according to reports received.The incident reportedly took place on Monday night around 8 PM behind a hospital in the Mohakhali area under Banani police station.

The child was rescued and admitted to Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital by Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Rafiq of Banani Police Station. After receiving initial treatment, the child was admitted to the One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) at DMC Hospital.

Taiyeba Sultana, the acting coordinator of OCC, stated that the child’s forensic examination was completed on Tuesday morning. Necessary tests have also been conducted, and preliminary evidence of rape has been found.
Quoting the child, the police reported that around 8 PM on Monday, an unknown man took her behind a hospital in Mohakhali and raped her. The child stated that she could identify the perpetrator if seen again. The child’s hometown is Muktagacha in Mymensingh.
