Major Crime Surge Reports Inaccurate: Press Wing

The Press Wing of the Chief Adviser has stated that reports published in various media outlets claiming a significant increase in major crimes in the country this year are inaccurate. This was conveyed in a statement issued on Monday.

The statement noted that reports of a significant rise in the crime rate this year have created panic and a sense of insecurity among the public.

According to the statement, an analysis of government crime statistics from September 2024 to June 2025 shows that claims of a significant increase in major crimes are not accurate. Data from Police Headquarters indicates that the trend of major crimes has remained stable over the past 10 months. The statement further clarified that there is no evidence of a rapid increase in major crimes. In fact, the rate of most serious crimes is either decreasing or remaining at the same level. However, a slight increase has been observed in certain specific types of crimes. The Press Wing urged citizens to remain vigilant and maintain trust in law enforcement agencies, emphasizing that the crime rate is largely stable, indicating that the situation is under control.
