The Bhutan Women's Football League witnessed a goal fest as Thimphu FC demolished Gelephu City with a staggering 23-0 victory. Two Bangladeshi footballers, Maria Manda and Shamsunnahar Senior, contributed a combined total of 12 goals in this one-sided encounter.
Maria Manda, a senior member of the Bangladesh Women's National Football Team, single-handedly netted 8 goals, earning her the Player of the Match award. Reflecting on her performance, Maria said, "I scored a lot of goals, the team won, and I also became the match's best player. It feels great overall." Maria achieved a double hat-trick, while Shamsunnahar Senior added a hat-trick plus one, scoring 4 goals to play a pivotal role in the massive win.
The Bhutan Women's League has seen several lopsided matches recently. Just last week, Paro FC secured a 22-0 victory, but Thimphu FC surpassed that record today. Thimphu FC includes three Bangladeshi players—Maria Manda, Shamsunnahar Senior, and Sanjida. However, Sanjida could not participate in today's match as she is currently attending a coaching course in Dhaka.
