In a significant development, Sunita Ahuja, wife of Bollywood actor Govinda, has formally filed for divorce in Mumbai’s Bandra Family Court. Speculations about cracks in their 37-year marriage had been rife for some time, and now these issues have reached the courtroom.
According to the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, Sunita’s petition accuses Govinda of infidelity, mental harassment, and deceit in their marriage. The court summoned Govinda on May 25, but he failed to appear, leading to the issuance of a show-cause notice. Meanwhile, Sunita has been regularly attending court hearings since June and participating in court-mandated counseling sessions.
However, sources close to Govinda present a different perspective. A friend of the actor, speaking to *Hindustan Times*, dismissed the divorce rumors, stating, “Divorce is out of the question. People are unnecessarily dragging up old issues.” Govinda’s manager also downplayed the situation, saying, “Every couple has disagreements. These are being blown out of proportion.”
