Dhaka, August 2, 2025 – Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, successfully underwent heart bypass surgery on Saturday at United Hospital in the capital. The surgery, which began at 8:00 AM and concluded by 12:00 PM, was performed by renowned cardiologist Dr. Jahangir Kabir and his team. Dr. Shafiqur Rahman is reported to be in stable condition and has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for close monitoring.
Dr. Khaliduzzaman, the party-assigned physician overseeing the Ameer’s medical care, confirmed the success of the operation. He noted that Dr. Shafiqur Rahman is under intensive observation by the medical team to ensure his recovery.
At a press briefing held around 12:30 PM, Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Abdullah Mohammad Taher addressed the media, stating, “Dr. Shafiqur Rahman’s heart bypass surgery has been successfully completed. He is in good health and currently under intensive observation. We request the nation to keep him in their prayers.”
The party has urged supporters and well-wishers to pray for the swift recovery of their leader.
