Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur Suffers Short-Term Memory Loss, Nosebleed Persists

Dhaka, September 6, 2025 – Nurul Haque Nur, President of Gono Odhikar Parishad, is experiencing short-term memory loss and persistent nosebleeds while receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), according to the party’s General Secretary, Rashed Khan.

Speaking to reporters after visiting Nur on Saturday afternoon, Rashed Khan revealed that Nur is struggling to recall minor details. “Blood continues to flow from his nose. Despite government assurances of treatment abroad, a section of the administration seems unwilling to see his condition improve,” Rashed alleged, suggesting that Nur’s deteriorating health could be due to government negligence and politically motivated actions.

Rashed also denied claims linking Gono Odhikar Parishad to the vandalism and arson at the Jatiya Party’s central office on Friday. “We had no involvement in the incident. These are politically driven attempts to falsely implicate our leaders and activists,” he stated. BNP senior leader Mirza Abbas, who also visited Nur, described the attack on him as intentional. “The assault on Nur was brutal and deliberate, not a random clash. His condition remains serious with intermittent bleeding, and I suspect internal injuries. A fair investigation is needed to uncover who was behind this and why,” Abbas said. He expressed frustration over delays in sending Nur abroad for treatment despite government promises.
