Dhaka, April 27, 2025
The written examination for the 46th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS), scheduled to begin on May 8, has been postponed following sustained protests by job aspirants. The Public Service Commission (PSC) had previously announced the exam schedule but faced mounting pressure from demonstrators demanding reforms.
On Sunday, April 27, a PSC representative informed protesters at Shahbagh, Dhaka, about the decision to suspend the exam. Earlier that day, job seekers blocked Shahbagh intersection, halting all vehicular movement in the area, to press for their eight-point demands, including PSC reforms.
In a related development, students at Dhaka University’s Raju Sculpture, who were on a hunger strike for PSC reforms, ended their 80-hour protest following mediation by Adviser Asif Mahmud. The resolution was confirmed on Mahmud’s verified Facebook page.
