The Chinese government has agreed to finance the construction of a 1,000-bed hospital in Rangpur, Bangladesh. Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum shared this information during a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy on Sunday, April 13.
The hospital will be built near the Teesta Project, and land is currently being scouted for the purpose. This initiative is a gift from China to commemorate 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
Additionally, special measures have been taken for the treatment of those injured during the July uprising. Each injured individual is being issued a health card, ensuring free lifetime medical care. So far, 40 injured individuals have been sent abroad for treatment, with 26 having returned after completing their medical procedures. Preparations are underway to send 8 more to Thailand and Singapore.
According to the Ministry of Health's database, 864 people were martyred, and over 14,000 were injured during the July-August period.
