Six BNP activists were arrested for allegedly assaulting an on-duty police officer inside a courtroom in Pabna’s District and Sessions Judge Court. The incident occurred on Tuesday (April 15) during a legal hearing.
The hearing was related to a sabotage case from November 15, 2023, in Ishwardi. During the proceeding, the accused stood inside the courtroom and started taking photos. When police officer Shah Alam stopped them from recording, they allegedly attacked him in frustration.
According to police sources, the arrested individuals include Awal Kabir, Sarwar Jahan Shishir, Kalam Khan, Rubel Hossain, Sabuj Hossain, and Zahurul Islam. They are affiliated with different BNP organizational wings in the region.
Court Inspector Rashedul Islam confirmed that the six individuals were immediately arrested and legal actions are being taken against them. Meanwhile, BNP District Member Secretary Masud Khandakar stated that if BNP members were truly involved, necessary legal measures would be taken accordingly.
