Court Bans Former NCP Leader Tanvir from Leaving Country, Orders NID Block

Dhaka, May 27, 2025: A court has imposed a travel ban on Gazi Salauddin Tanvir, the former joint member secretary of the National Citizen Party (NCP), and ordered the blocking of his National Identification (NID) card.

The order was issued on Tuesday (May 27) by Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md. Zakir Hossain Galib following an application by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). ACC’s Public Relations Officer Aktarul Islam confirmed the development.

The application, filed by ACC Assistant Director SM Rashedul Hasan, stated that Gazi Salauddin Tanvir is under investigation for allegedly acquiring illegal wealth worth hundreds of crores of taka through abuse of power, lobbying, extortion, and tender manipulation, among other corrupt practices. The ACC further noted that credible sources indicated Tanvir might flee the country, necessitating the travel ban and NID block to ensure a thorough investigation. The court granted the application.
Earlier, Tanvir was expelled from the NCP due to various allegations of corruption.
