Court Orders Imprisonment of Singer Mainul Ahsan Noble in Rape and Torture Case

Dhaka, May 20, 2025: A Dhaka court has ordered the imprisonment of singer Mainul Ahsan Noble in a case involving the abduction, rape, and torture of a young woman for over six months. The order was issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Zia Uddin Ahmed on Tuesday (May 20).

Noble was arrested by Demra Police Station late Monday night (May 19) from Sarulia in Dhaka’s Demra area. According to police, Noble held the victim captive in his residence for over six months, during which he subjected her to rape and physical assault.
A statement from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) revealed that the victim first came into contact with Noble through social media in 2018, and they occasionally communicated via phone. On November 12, 2024, Noble met the victim in Mohammadpur, luring her to his residence under the pretext of showing her his studio. With the assistance of two to three unidentified accomplices, he confined her to his home. During this period, Noble allegedly destroyed her mobile phone, physically assaulted her while under the influence of drugs, and raped her. He also recorded videos of the assault and threatened to share them on social media, holding her captive until May 19, 2025.
A video of Noble assaulting the victim went viral on social media, enabling her family to identify her and contact the National Emergency Service 999. On May 19, around 9:30 PM, Demra police rescued the victim, and a case was filed based on her complaint. The investigation, aided by CCTV footage analysis and technology, led to Noble’s arrest.
The victim has been sent to a hospital in Dhaka for medical treatment. The case has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with Noble’s previous controversies also resurfacing.
